KETBIO PARADE – new publication featuring top biotech commercialisation

A group of high-level industry experts, mandated by the KETBIO biotech transfer EU initiative, has evaluated 30 EU biotech projects as top-level with high market attractiveness. KETBIO is featuring their stories in an online publication under the title: “Biotech commercialisation – KETBIO PARADE”.

The KETBIO PARADE (@KETBIO_biotech) provides the biotechnology community with exclusive interviews with CEOs, insightful reports and interesting insights into EU biotechnology research and development landscapes. The developments in the key enabling biotechnologies range from biorefining and enzymatic biocatalysis to synthetic biology for plastic recycling, health and medical applications, fully compostable and smart food packs, alternative construction materials, and novel solutions for waste and wastewater treatment.

The developments that are presented in the KETBIO PARADE have been selected out of 300 screened EU funded R &I projects; the top-ranked cover novel products, material, or process innovations that are very likely to be early market movers or innovations that may soon take on the hurdles of commercialisation. The selection criteria of the evaluators featured aspects such as technology readiness, potential impacts, market attractiveness, commercialisation steps and support, entrance barriers, commitment, and resources.

To be included in the list of the EU TOP TEN, the initiatives had to score in the ranking system at least 10.5 out of 15. The TOP TEN stand out because of their unique novel approaches to key enabling biotechnology, marking them out as industry drivers and/or projects with a high potential impact in terms of their market attractiveness while, at the same time, providing sustainable solutions.

The twenty other highly innovative biotech EU developments have convinced the evaluators of the uniqueness of their approaches as well their ability to meet strong end-user needs or respond to pressing environmental or health challenges.
