BIOTEXFUTURE – Transforming the textile industry.

BIOTEXFUTURE one of four innovation spaces funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and reaching over a time span of 5 years, is holding the vision to transform the textile value chain from petroleum- to bio-based writes Eva von Boenninghausen of the adidas FUTURE TEAM.

The consortium of 30+ partners is focusing their research on developing bio-based raw materials to find alternative solutions to traditional plastics, mapping the application in the textile industry from the biopolymer to manufacturing of the entire textile, and striving for a societal transformation towards bioeconomy. Since November 2019, adidas is co-leading the program in collaboration with the RWTH Aachen University.

In this context, the Bio Market Insights CEO and co-founder Alex Williamson teamed up with BIOTEXFUTURE during its bi-yearly forum at the end of October, providing a deep dive into the business case and commercial opportunity for sustainable products. Reaching over 150 pioneers within the bioeconomic space from research over NGOs to key players in the industry within and outside of Germany, the forum has established itself as a platform and convenor of change in the bioeconomy.

The innovation space is currently scouting for like-minded innovators to add further projects to their current R&D portfolio. Do you have an idea that revolutionizes the textile industry but needs a proof of concept? Do you already have an idea or proof of concept and are looking for a chance to accelerate your idea to be used on an industrial scale? Then you should apply for the BIOTEXFUTURE Seed Fund or Accelerator project. Please find more information on the innovation space and application format HERE.
