PBPC announces appointment of new Executive Director.

The Plant Based Products Council (PBPC) has announced  that Jessica Bowman will be its new Executive Director in order to help the organisation to grow and to help with its advocacy efforts. Bowman comes to PBPC with many years of experience working for associations in both the chemical and aviation industries, with a strong focus on developing and growing advocacy and policy programs.

Since the council’s launch in January 2019, the PBPC has already grown to more than 55 corporate members comprised of businesses large and small, from across the United States, who are committed to advancing the bioeconomy.

“We are excited to have Jessica leading the PBPC into 2020 and beyond,” said Mike Wagner, PBPC Board Chair. “Her more than 17 years of association experience will ensure a member-driven advancement of the PBPC mission. Her leadership will also allow the PBPC to grow its advocacy efforts as it quickly becomes a key player in the larger bioeconomy debate.”

Bowman joins PBPC from the American Chemistry Council, where she served as Executive Director of the FluoroCouncil, and previously as Senior Director of Environmental Affairs for the Airports Council International – North America.  She holds a J.D. with a concentration in environmental law from University of Maryland School of Law and a B.S. in GeoEnvironmental Engineering from Penn State University.

“The vision of PBPC is simple: bio-based products and materials offer us the opportunity to harness American innovation to deliver a sustainable future for not only our environment, but our economy,” said Jessica Bowman.  “I am excited to help bring together a growing number of companies and stakeholders aimed at moving the global economy toward more sustainable and responsible consumer products and packaging.”
